On Saturday, the 20th September 2025, Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies (IPSDS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, in collaboration with Anambra Peace and Mediation Working Committee, celebrated United Nations World Peace Day 2025 with “Peace Walk” which started from Temp. Site, also known as Unizik junction, to the popular Ekwueme Square in the state capital, Awka.
This year’s theme was “Act Now for a Peaceful World”. IPSDS under the directorship of Prof. Jaja C. Nwanegbo, and the chairman of the World Peace Day Committee – Prof. Cornelius A. Ukwueze, tagged the Peace Walk, “Peace Walk for a Peaceful Anambra Governorship Election as the state’s Gubernatorial Election is scheduled to hold in November 2025.
IPSDS, Anambra Peace and Mediation Working Committee, with other organisations like the Rotary Club that participated in the walk, preached the message of peace and urged people of Anambra State to embrace peace and to be advocate of a peaceful and secured Anambra State, especially this election period.
